042814LL0114RKankakee – State Senator Toi Hutchinson (D - Chicago Heights) wrapped up a well-attended hiring fair this afternoon at the Kankakee Valley Park District Recreation Center.

With over 50 employers in attendance, job seekers flocked to the event with the hope of attracting a potential employer.

“There was a tangible energy and enthusiasm throughout the event, coming not just from those seeking employment, but also the employers themselves,” said Sen. Hutchinson. “It was obvious people were getting proactively involved on both sides of the hiring process.”

Unemployed constituents found the event helpful in their jobs search, but those already employed and searching for better, higher paying work also learned how to attract employers by connecting with other professionals and employers actively seeking talented people.

A local employer spoke to the importance of these events for not only job seekers, but employers as well.

"I think the main reason I was interested is because I want good candidates with a face to put with a good resume, said a local employer in attendance. "This is a good way to connect with local residents that we can hire."
